No self respecting off roader would be caught wearing patent leather dress shoes to the off road races just as no self respecting off road vehicle would be caught in public shod in stock highway tires.  Absolutely one of the top considerations for any new acquisition is shedding those mild mannered wimpy wannabe and replacing them with some gnarly monster meats.  Well, at least some good all terrain tires or mud terrains like the Toyo MT or Cooper STT. 

But the act of choosing just one set of tires for a non specialty rig is becoming more difficult.  Today's tire manufactures continue to develop more and more tires that all are worthy of adorning that new rig and taking you to new levels of off road ecstasy.  These tires come in the form of high traction tires for deep slippery mud and soft rubber tires for frozen trails covered in ice and snow.  Then there are the new breads of all terrain tires that cover a wide section of off road conditions as well as let you drive the highways with complete confidence and control.

Specialty Tires for Hard Core Off Roading

Not the best choice for a daily driver, tires like the Interco Boggers and recently discontinued Ground Hawgs are meant as primarily off road tires with special tire compounds and tread designs best suited for specialty vehicles.

Mud tires for trucks and four wheel drive vehicles designed for both on and off road conditions. Massive lugs with cavernous voids move mounds of mud with every rotation are totally serious mud tires for serious off road fun.
